If you had to set up Ingress resources in Kubernetes to use an ingress controller, you’ve probably experienced first hand how easily they can get full of annotations inline into each Ingress resource. By specification, an Ingress resources route can only point to one service, which is also a significant limitation for more complex routing/load balancing scenarios. Over the last years, the ecosystem is getting more fragmented with the appearance of Custom Resources (CRDs) for this purpose, which makes using Ingress resource definitions harder to maintain in terms of implementation with different underlying cluster setups.

I was looking for a solution to listen remotely to a local FM radio station. I had DVB-T+FM+DAB device laying around, which is basically a cheap RTL-SDR powered with Realtek RTL2832U + R820T2. The device looks as depicted in Picture 1.
After some research, I have found out the OpenWebRX project, which is a server that provides a web-based player, which supports multi-user streaming of local SDR receiver devices. This open-source project is based on Python and maintained on GitHub. They provide binaries for popular Linux distros and Raspberry Pi.
The winter is starting to get tougher here in Portugal, bringing up challenges regarding climatization of our homes. If you don’t live in here, you probably thought that it is a warm country due to our sunny summers. Traditionally older houses are inferior in terms of climatization, lacking things seen in other western and central Europe countries.
With that said, I’ve put my DIY hat, and the first thing I’ve done was to seal air leaks by install weather stripping where it was necessary, improving the amount of heat lost from heating appliances.
I’m using a simple space heater to…
In this article, we will be looking at Knative and how its biased approach can help you as a developer to focus on delivering scalable solutions. Read the first part of this article if you are looking for an introduction to this topic. This part targets the Serving component, and Knative 0.15.
If you are running Kubernetes, you can install your Knative stack by following this guide. Currently, the installation consists of installing the Serving and Eventing components. You have to pick a networking layer your solution will be operating; at this moment, it supports the following ones:
The tech industry likes to talk, share and create a lot of buzz around new terminology and new technology.
In regards to advancements in cloud computing, the term “serverless” has been somewhat vague, heavily depending on the technology your stack is being built around, but in the end sums up to the following concepts, quoting the official definition from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation:
Serverless computing refers to the concept of building and running applications that do not require server management. It describes a finer-grained deployment model where applications, bundled as one or more functions, are uploaded to a platform…
If you are considering to start a project powered by Kubernetes, it may seem mind-boggling where and how to start. With that said, I am writing this article to comment on the added value of empowering your development stack with Skaffold and minikube.
Minikube allows you to spin a Kubernetes cluster in your development stack without much effort. It supports multiple drivers enabling you to deploy it as a container, virtual machine or bare-metal. In this article, you will learn how to spin a cluster and to take advantage of Hyper-V, which is Windows native hypervisor.
minikube quickly sets up…
Containers and container orchestration allow organizations to deliver software more quickly and efficiently. They are getting popular between organizations that want to pursue continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) as part of the modern DevOps culture.
Kubernetes is a portable, extensible, open-source platform for managing containerized workloads and services, that facilitates both declarative configuration and automation. It has a large, rapidly growing ecosystem. Kubernetes services, support, and tools are widely available.
This article aims to introduce some basic security practices that are applicable in a scenario where your container orchestration platform is Kubernetes.
By default, a Kubernetes cluster won’t…
